Fund-Raising

Many of Fort Edmonton Park's guests are not aware that Fort Edmonton Park is a citizen's project, built with contributions from businesses and individuals. The Foundation's function is to collect and utilize these donations for the completion of capital projects within the Park. Moreover, our donors have control over what the Foundation's Board of Directors does with their money.

As the Foundation is an independent charitable organization, up to 10% of each donation is used for administrative costs. If, at the end of the year, not all of the administrative levy is used, the remainder goes back into project reconstruction rather than being carried over into the next year's administrative funds.

The Foundation fund raises through a variety of methods:

  1. Spring and Fall Direct Mail - we send out a spring and fall letter to our donors to let them know how their money is hard at work in Fort Edmonton Park.
  2. This Web Site- individuals can make donations to the Foundation by clicking here.
  3. Events- fundraising events that combine fun, food and awareness all for the good of Fort Edmonton Park, for example, A Taste of History.

The Foundation also has three exciting sponsorship opportunities:

Foundation staff also submit grant proposals to a variety of sources on an ongoing basis.

Since 1969, the Foundation's fund raising efforts have generated over $20 million for the creation and growth of Fort Edmonton Park.
